My 2008 Presidential Campaign Platform, in Brief
Sound Bites are Important, so Here Goes:
The following five points contain the essence of my campaign. Please use every opportunity to urge your friends and fellow activists to read and circulate these words:
ONE: Within 90 days of my election, all U.S. forces will be completely withdrawn from Iraq and Afghanistan, regardless of the "situation on the ground."
TWO: I will urge Congress to greatly increase the monetary compensation to our soldiers who have lost lives or limbs in Iraq or Afghanistan. The so-called death benefit (for next of kin) should be increased to $5,000,000 (from $400,000) and the loss-of-limb compensation to $1,000,000 per limb - both measures to be enacted retroactively and tax-free.
THREE: I will single-handedly thwart the military draft, should Congress pass one in the next few years. I'll do that in my role as Commander in Chief by simply ordering all draftees to stay home, not follow any military orders, and carry on with their civilian lives as if they had never been drafted.
FOUR: As President, I can (and will immediately) return Guantanamo to the Cubans. I can do this without Congressional approval by simply ordering all of our troops to leave. ["Abandoning" Gitmo is one of the legal ways (defined by treaty) to return Gitmo to Cuban control.]
FIVE: I'm the only candidate offering a contract, putting my campaign promises in writing. If I violate my written promises, I lose my office.
Additional Details
The five points listed above are meant to "whet the appetite." However, you who have followed my detailed internet postings know that my campaign is far more substantial than "25 words or less" slogans. I will leave sloganeering to the slick, professional campaign strategists employed by my opponents. Other elements of my contract, including detailed essays, are at http://bpa-cinc.zaadz.com/blog?page=1
January 27 Peace March
I know many of you will be going to the Anti-War March in D.C. on January 27. This will be a golden opportunity to tell fellow marchers that you know a way to guarantee our exit from the Middle East.
Tell them, it's not enough to march in the name of trying to beg/force the Dems & GOP to withdraw our forces. It's time for the American people to seriously consider a Plan B and, frankly, I'm it. Nobody else is offering a contract mandating that (if elected) your next President will (must!) withdraw those forces, or else suffer impeachment for violating his written word to the voters.
This is huge. I am offering a once in a lifetime and very attainable goal, especially since there is no incumbent to overcome. It's a wide open field in 2008 and I urge you to take full advantage of this in order to assert (what is essentially) your agenda.
Aren't you tired of lying conservatives, many of whom claim to be religious? [They'll claim, by the way, that there's no such commandment as "Thou Shalt Not Lie."] True, enough, but lying still stinks.
Hillary Clinton Won't Get U.S. Out
This is from http://www.hillaryclinton.com/:
QUOTE: Just returned from a weekend visit to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, [Hillary] Clinton said Bush's new proposal threatens the missions in Iraq, where she said more troops are not the answer, and in Afghanistan, where she said additional troops are badly needed. END QUOTE: SOURCE: Article by Dan Balz, Washington Post, Jan. 18, 2007.
It must be Hillary the Hawk being quoted above who says, "...additional troops are badly needed [in Afghanistan]." I wonder if hubby Bill, as her Personal Advisor, is whispering Realpolitik in her ear. I can't believe she actually posted the above quote on her website. Whatever will her liberal supporters think? I suspect she doesn't really care, since it's the center she's going after, at all costs.
Dan Balz's article is titled: Clinton Steps Up Criticism of War in Iraq
The sub-title reads:
Senator Rejects Bush Strategy but Steers Clear of Timetable for Troop Pullout [Sounds like Hillary can't shake her addiction to the McCain theme: Troops will solve our problems.
It's time we let Hillary know: We reject your waffling and we don't believe you have any idea of what our "mission in Iraq" ought to be (except, of course, you'll duly note that Bush "threatens" that mission). We need a candidate who's not afraid to say exactly what he (or she) thinks and is willing to put those thoughts in the form of a written contract.
Barack Obama Won't Get U.S. Out
Barack has nothing new to say, though he managed a very revealing comment or two in his book, The Audacity of Hope:
QUOTE (page 301): I believe as well that our strategic goals at this point should be well defined: achieving some semblance of stability in Iraq, ensuring that those in power in Iraq are not hostile to the United States, and preventing Iraq from becoming a base for terrorist activities. UNQUOTE.
Hmm...Bush could just as well have said that. And Obama is being hailed as the next JFK-style new political hope? Spare me! [Oh, by the way, how will we "ensure?" How will we "prevent?" Care to share, Senator?]
Here's another quote (same book, page 127):
QUOTE: ...our judgment on whether and when to pull troops out of Iraq must necessarily be based on probabilities. UNQUOTE.
Hmm...What, exactly, do you mean by "whether," Senator Obama? Are you saying, "If the probabilities aren't right, we'll be in Iraq forever?" Maybe your use of the word "whether" was a bit of a Freudian slip, yes?
Steven Searle for U.S. President in 2008
You could do a lot worse than electing Steve as your next President. Time for a change. Now!
