If you had to found a museum, what would it be about?

Posted on Oct 30th, 2009 by Cinc : Mr. President Cinc
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 30, 2009:

Torture...The world is in desperate need of an in-your-face museum dedicated to torture. We benefit so handsomely from it, why not put it front and center for the whole world to see? This museum should be cylindrical, with the different degrees of torture arranged in concentric circles like Dante's Circles of Hell. Upon entering this place, visitors would see displays of mild torture in the first Circle of Hell. Not only "see," but "hear" as well - for torture cannot be fully appreciated without (shall we say) sound-effects.

If they've got the stomach for it, guests could enter the inner circles and proceed from viewing acts of torture abstractly rendered all the way to realistic, holographically-rendered torture sessions of increasing brutality. Maybe some "friendly" government that does our dirty work for us (say "extraordinary rendition") could be prevailed upon to furnish DVDs of actual torture sessions. Or why not go all the way and, in the innermost Circle of this Hell, show us actual torture sessions? Surely there must be some wretched criminals we could purchase from some 3rd world hellhole for whom no one would cry out for justice.

Maybe tourists could subject themselves to a waterboarding session or two or, after signing the appropriate waivers, something a bit more severe - just to see what it's like to wear those shoes. I could go on but dare not, since some poor soul out there might think this is a good idea. Neither such a museum nor terror itself can, under any stretch (bad pun), be considered a good idea.

I’m all for seeing “the bright side of life,” but I won’t wear rose-colored glasses. In fact, contemplation of the uglier side makes me appreciate what I’ve got and makes me want to do more for others. The Buddha taught “do not love one thing or hate another,” which inspired him to teach his disciples an indelible lesson, after which some of them committed suicide. He would instruct them to go to a paupers’ graveyard where the corpses are just tossed upon the open ground, rather than buried. Further, he would tell each of them to choose one corpse to sit on (in lotus position of course) – a bloated, stinking, rotting body – and stay awake all night, contemplating the concept of impermanence. The point? Some of his disciples came from noble families and had known only privilege their whole lives. So for them, “impermanence” (matters of life and death) were only abstractions. After that evening’s meditation, they lost their impulse to go “hahhahh” and instead got on to serious business.

Dear Cinc,
The universe is holy, perfect and has an intelligence in itself. Good do not exist without bad, light without darkness and so on…
Therefore challenges, sadness, suffering, darkness… are also part of the evolving process! they are signs that there is a dysfonction regarding the program of “especies” and something should evolve if we want to keep “life” on this universe!  and these feelings, experiences should be honoured accordingly!
However Love is the life source of energy! And therefore my choice for a museum:) I feel as a woman it is my job to believe in life and love! and keep faith!
I think we are in a moment where we shall say thanks and good bye to some values, patterns, priorities, views, which may have helped us in the past but are not anymore compatible, updated….. with actuality
I think we have already enough of bad news, suffering,  and focus on catastrophes, everyday in every newspapers, and unfortunately allover around us…. on streets, on work place…..schools, hospitals, governments, environment…
So I have decided to myself not to see the world through a “pink glass”:) but instead of draining my energy by holding on and reapeting all bad scenes and moments in the world and in my life in my system, I want to spend this energy rather to create alchemy!
I embrasse all the pain and darkness in the world with love :)
Anyway….:) I also believe in diversity and co-creation!so I am happy that there are people with your approach and also mine and many many other approaches I hope:) the more perspectives we can have, the more richness can be bring to the process!
I am also thankful that we can not choose all events happening in the world as an individual, but we can choose how we want to react to them as induviduals!
I thank the universe for all the gifts:)
Namasté For yours!:)
